Jaipur: Baba Ramdev Nagar is located near Gujar ki Thadi, New Sanganer Road. It falls under ward 30 of Civil Lines area. The settlement is 40 years old and has 424 Households, of which only 140 are pucca (made of Bricks and cement) while the rest are kutcha or are sheds and huts with tin roofs. As per the ICDS data, the estimated population of Baba Ramdev Nagar is 2,390.
A majority of the population in the area comprises urban poor. Around 50 households can be categorized as ‘most vulnerable’ and live on the rear end of the settlement. They do not have regular access to clean drinking water; the surroundings are filled with solid and animal waste. The residents here do not have not have access to basic social entitlements and are have not benefitted from several government schemes and programmes. A majority of the people belong to below poverty line (BPL) category. These are families mostly belonging to communities such as Lohar, Sansi, Ghumantu and Rebadi (ST, SC) and live in hutments. There are also a few Muslim families in the settlement.
