Implementation of City level Inclusive Sanitation Action Plan
- Geography: Cuttack
- Supported by: Ernst & Young (TSU Odisha)
- Focus: Inclusive WASH -FSM
About the project: This is an eleven-month partnership focussed on strengthening FSM across 8 wards through an active engagement with Cuttack Municipal Corporation, community structures-SHGs-ALF and their proactive role in sanitation linked livelihood, regulation of FSM and rights of sanitary workers. The expected outcomes are creation of two model wards and a scalable-replicable Action Plan for other ULBs
Achievement: The salient achievement of the project has been the setting up of the Gender Resource Centre and Gender sub-groups, who have been trained in waste segregation and management, and safe FSM and desludging practices. These sub-groups are working across eight settlements and eight wards to ensure segregation and mechanised desludging of pits with the support of Cuttack Municipal Corporation. The groups are also exploring possibilities of sanitation linked livelihoods to support sanitary workers
